Advantage Solutions Agency Account Director in Stamford, Connecticut
Summary
The Agency Account Director will manage relationships at the executive level within existing clients and will lead our account management team in the day-to-day management of our clients. This role will also support in the development of new business. A successful Agency Account Director will focus on financial health of multiple clients, new business development, proactive associate career path development and Agency product innovation. Specifically:
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Client Leadership
Lead, guide and/or manage relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders at top clients
Be key point of contact for senior leaders, have open lines of communication for both good and bad news
Establish cadence for in-person meetings; responsible for setting up and leading these engagements. This includes but is not limited to determining meeting plan and required content, building presentation(s), gaining internal alignment, informing Agency and Daymon contacts, overall successful meeting execution and providing timely follow-up
First line of defense in recognizing where issues exist, raising flags
Define business needs and best ways for Account Management to support
Illustrate understanding of process, strive to improve and provide feedback as required
Ensure everyone on the team, our Daymon team and clients understand and follow the process; clearly define the process for new customers
Solve for breakdowns in process, use creative thinking and problem-solving skills to navigate as appropriate to steer clients in the right direction
Work with agency leadership team to problem solve whenever appropriate
Lead new business development within existing accounts
Recognize opportunities for new business and respond to RFP’s
Own the process from beginning to end – identify, propose, negotiate, sell
Identify new, complimentary services to create and sell
Manage relationship with Daymon account leadership (account leads and VP’s)
Build relationships with Daymon leads (account leads and VP’s), informing them and engaging them for support when necessary
Effectively communicate up/down/sideways as appropriate to ensure everyone involved with an account is aware
Create a bridge between agency account team and Daymon teams to strengthen our relationships
Financial Acumen and Leadership
Owner of the Agency P&L, leading budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
Responsible for leading the annual budgeting process for the agency, inclusive of all inputs not limited to what Account Management oversees
Accountable for managing and delivering against the monthly forecast; provides regular status to leadership
Owns the monthly deliverables (forecast and reporting) to finance and leadership
Team Management and Leadership
Structure and align team responsibilities to maximize throughput and productivity, and to support our process; review and adjust as needed to ensure balance of workload and that client needs are met.
Guide team in their day-to-day relationships and deliverables with clients
Deliver coaching and guidance on best ways to engage
Provide coaching and feedback on content for all client deliverables
Ensure team delivers against client, Daymon and Agency expectations (meetings, deliverables, etc.)
Ensure professional and timely responses to all client or Daymon Account team requests
Provide feedback and coaching to create a highly functional, account management team; including but not limited to time management, gaining internal buy-in, highest level of deliverables, and meeting prep (sending agenda, etc.)
Hold team accountable to all aspects of the business
Ensure all team members understand the dynamics that effect our P&L and how their accounts impact the P&L
New Business Development
- Play a strategic role in selling new business efforts with current and new client prospects, providing clear and relevant service offerings based upon our mission, culture and capabilities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct Reports
- Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources
Indirect Reports
- May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports
Travel and/or Driving Requirements:
Travel and Driving is an essential duty and function of this job

Education Level: (Required): Bachelor's Degree o r equivalent experience

Field of Study/Area of Experience: Business, Communications
- 10+ years of experience in the role of leader/manager in agency or brand management, including experience in package design, advertising, promotion, media, or direct marketing. Private Brand experience a plus.

Position Summary
The Account Director is responsible for overseeing performance of the Account Services team within Client Services. S/he focuses on achieving key departmental KPIs and success metrics while empowering and encouraging team members to develop innovative strategies for attaining performance. S/he is responsible for analyzing on-going account performance and adjusting priorities, goals, and activities based on results. The Account Director organizes and leads cross-functional teams across a range of high-complexity projects, which may include organizational and process design, departmental roadmap development, business development, and client engagement.
The Account Director shares responsibility for the management of the Senior Account Management team. S/he plays a pivotal part in honing each team member’s people management skills and aiding in overall career development. The Account Director oversees team interactions and dynamics of Account Services as a whole, serving as an escalation point for account and team member-related issues, concerns, and suggestions.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborates with the leadership team to develop, track, and achieve departmental goals
Oversees department performance as measured against major KPIs and goals; monitors trends to proactively identify risks and opportunities
Owns resource allocation and planning decisions for the Account Services team
Manages Account Services employee relations, working in conjunction with People & Culture to facilitate teamwork and address questions and conflicts
Responsible for Account Services financial management, including client forecasting/projections, budgets, and billing

Minimum Qualifications

7+ years of experience in Account Management
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
7+ years account or management experience in PPC advertising, preferably managing multi-million dollar budget SEM programs through Google AdWords and Bing Ads
Proven people manager skills developing employees and optimizing organizational effectiveness, including a minimum of two years building and leading teams
Strong track record of delivering outstanding service to clients, both internal and external, as well as business results and ROI
Demonstrated ability to improve existing systems and implement new structures to build an effective learning environment
Ability to communicate complex data with clarity and simplicity
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Keen eye for excellent client service and account performance
Nice to have:
- Retail experience, including but not limited to: eCommerce; merchandising and promotions; multi-channel marketing; branding
